General guidance:

CD353 Guidance for the design of footbridges.

Definitions:

  • Client brief A statement from the client of what what is required in relation to the structure.
  • Site information A topographic plan of the site, geotechical site investigation reports, etc.
  • Requirements statement  Starts with the client brief and adds further items. Guidance: From Top-down
  • Option analysis report Statement of the reasons for choosing the form of the structure, materials etc. Guidance: From Top-down Paper
  • Design proposal  Document, mainly for approval by the client, that the proposed arrangements for the design are valid i.e. that they are capable of satisfying the requirements
  • Design verification Documenet (or set of documents) that show that the design meets the requirements.
  • Drawings, specifications Output for contractor.
